U.S. stocks flitted between gains and losses on Thursday as uncertainty over when a trade deal between the United States and China would be reached clouded sentiment.

At 1:13 p.m. ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.03 percent at 25,710.32. The S&P 500 was down 0.01 percent at 2,810.61 and the Nasdaq Composite was up 0.01 percent at 7,644.049.
