CME Group Sept. Avg. Volume Contracts Per Day Up 10% - Quick Facts
(RTTNews.com) - CME Group (CME), Wednesday said that September 2013 volume averaged 13.1 million contracts per day, a 10 percent increase from last year. Total volume for the month was more than 261 million contracts, of which 84 percent was traded electronically.
In September, CME Group interest rate volume averaged 6.6 million contracts per day, a 32 percent increase from last year. Treasury futures volume averaged 2.5 million contracts per day, up 16 percent from last year. Treasury options volume averaged 528,000 contracts per day, up 45 percent from last September.
CME Group metals volume averaged 327,000 contracts per day, down 12 percent from previous year. The Group's energy volume averaged 1.6 million contracts per day, down 7 percent from prior-year period. CME Group agricultural commodities volume in September 2013 averaged 918,000 contracts per day, down 15 percent from a year ago. In September, CME Group cleared an average $115 billion a day of notional value of OTC interest rate swaps.
